Terra Verde Botanical is a plant care and interior botanical studio founded in 2018 at 42 Elmridge Lane. We design living green installations, install office biophilia, and maintain houseplants for homes and businesses in our service area. Our standard: no plant leaves our care without a written light and water plan.

What does Terra Verde Botanical actually do?

We do three things. Interior plant design for homes and offices. Ongoing maintenance visits (weekly, biweekly, or monthly). And rescue consultations for plants that are declining, priced at $85 for a 60-minute in-home visit.

Last April, a client named Marta called about a six-year-old fiddle leaf fig that had dropped 14 leaves in three weeks. Everyone online had told her to repot. We didn't. The root ball was fine. The problem was a west-facing radiator running dry heat directly under the pot. Moved the tree four feet, added a pebble tray, and by June it had pushed seven new leaves. That's the work. Diagnosis before treatment.

Studies from NASA's Clean Air Study and subsequent peer review show interior plants meaningfully influence particulate levels and humidity in enclosed rooms [1], though the effect size depends heavily on plant density per square meter. We factor that into every design brief.

Why does a written care plan matter?

Because memory fails and plants don't lie. Every installation we complete ships with a laminated care card listing species, light requirements in foot-candles, watering frequency by season, and the exact date of the last repotting. If you hire someone to maintain your plants and they can't hand you documentation, walk away.

Most people ask first about price. Wrong first question. Ask about replacement policy. Ours: any plant we install and maintain that dies within 90 days from non-negligent causes is replaced at no cost. That single line changes how carefully a studio sources stock.

Here's what a proper Terra Verde Botanical care plan includes:

  • Botanical name and cultivar for every plant on the invoice.
  • Measured light readings at the plant's placement, taken with a lux meter at noon.
  • A watering schedule adjusted for summer and winter separately.
  • Fertilization windows tied to the growing season, usually March through September.
  • Pest inspection notes from the last three visits, with photos when relevant.
  • The name of the technician assigned to your account.
  • Emergency contact for signs of sudden decline like sudden leaf drop or webbing.

How do our services compare?

Not every space needs the same level of care. A single ficus in a studio apartment is not a 40-plant lobby installation. We price and staff accordingly.

If you're comparing studios, our post on the questions worth asking before you hire covers the checklist we'd use ourselves.

What standard do we hold ourselves to?

Three commitments, non-negotiable.

First, we source ethically. No plants from suppliers who cannot document propagation origin. Wild-collected specimens of endangered species like certain Alocasia and slipper orchids are refused, in line with CITES trade regulations [2]. Ask us for the paperwork. We'll show you.

Second, we don't upsell. If your snake plant needs $12 of pumice and a bigger pot, that's what we quote. Not a $400 replacement.

Third, we train continuously. Every technician logs 20 hours of horticultural coursework a year. Pests evolve. Growing media improve. Our knowledge has to keep pace or we're selling stale advice.

FAQ

Do you service plants you didn't originally sell?

Yes. Roughly 60% of our maintenance clients came to us with plants they'd bought elsewhere. We inspect each one on the first visit, note existing pests or root issues, and give you an honest assessment before agreeing to ongoing care. There's no requirement to buy from us first.

How often do maintenance visits happen?

It depends on plant count and species mix. Most homes need a monthly visit. Offices with 15+ plants usually run biweekly. High-humidity tropicals like Calatheas may need weekly attention during winter heating months, when indoor humidity in our area drops below 30%.

What if a plant dies under your care?

If we installed and have been maintaining a plant and it dies within 90 days from causes unrelated to client negligence (like an unreported HVAC change), we replace it at no cost. Beyond 90 days, we offer replacements at 40% below retail for active maintenance clients.

Do you work with commercial spaces?

Yes. We handle lobbies, restaurants, coworking spaces, and medical offices across our service area. Commercial contracts start at $450 per month and include weekly visits, a dedicated account technician, and quarterly design reviews to swap seasonal displays.
